Understanding The Importance Of SHTF
You often hear the word SHTF nowadays. Forums on doomsday prepping and financial discussions often say this word. So why do they give a big deal about SHTF, what does it mean.
The meaning of SHTF is Sh*t Hits The Fan or sometimes it is termed as Sewage Hits The Fan. When a major catastrophe gifts the country and causes major turmoil, that is when SHTF happens. The one that made up the term are the people from the prepping community, these word has become popular and made its way to the mainstream.
The End Of The World As We Know It or TEOTWAWKI is also related to SHTF. In a survivalist point of view, TEOTWAWKI is a more serious scenario than SHTF as it will not make any humans return to normal living at least a decade.
These three scenarios that we will discuss will make you understand SHTF more comprehensively.
Economic SHTF is one of the most common and likely scenarios that could hit any country. The deficit and the national debt will get out of control that is why economic SHTF is likely to happen. The government needs the scheme to keep going that is why they will be forced to print out more money. It will be inevitable for the cards to tumble down. Hyperinflation will then happens which is a result of the government’s inability to pay the bills.
The next type is the Power grid SHTF. Total darkness may be experienced by some parts of the country due to the aging power grid. It is both an advantage and a disadvantage that the [power supply f every state is interconnected. Others states can support places wherein there are few generating plants. Large generating plants that will have a major problem will affect all the small places that rely power from it. This is not new as a real scenario in the year 2003 happened in one state in the United States. So the power grid SHTF can happen again but only be limited in a small scale.
The last and the final type is the terror SHTF. For preppers and survivalist, it is really a big deal. They think that a possible cyber-attack will happen on the country’s power grids which can then ‘paralyzed the country’s power supply. They even think that an EMP device will be used to wipe out the country’s power supply. But experts believe that this scenario can be possible but not likely to happen. A nuclear bomb explosion like effect is needed in order for an EMP to damaged electrical circuits within a particular area and it is not easy.
If you are asking if these scenarios are not far from happening, yes they are. Recommending to prepare ahead of time is what survivalist always says. Preparing can definitely save you and will not cost you that much.
